11. What Turemi does#

Turemi translates text, photos, screens, conversations and audio playing on your phone, and can show live captions. Each feature can use our online service or offline packs that run on your phone. The app has no user accounts.

Features, supported languages and offline packs may change over time. We may add, change or remove features, and we may suspend or end the online service, for example for maintenance, security, cost or legal reasons.

22. Your content#

“Your content” means the text, photos, screen content, speech and audio you choose to translate, and the results the Service returns to you.

• You keep your rights. We do not claim ownership of your content.
• Limited permission. You allow us, our server and the providers it uses to process your content only as needed to provide the features you use, keep the Service secure and comply with the law, as described in the Privacy Policy.
• Your responsibility. You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed to use your content with the Service.

33. Recording, screens and other people’s rights#

Some features capture speech, audio from other apps, photos or what is on your screen. You are responsible for using them lawfully. In particular:

• Follow the laws where you are about recording or transcribing conversations, which may require the consent of everyone involved.
• Respect other people’s privacy, and the copyright and other rights in videos, music, broadcasts, documents and apps you capture or translate.
• Follow the rules of the apps, services, venues and organizations whose content you capture, including restrictions on screenshots or recording.
• Do not capture or translate content you are not allowed to access.

44. Acceptable use#

You agree not to:

• use the Service for anything illegal, harmful, fraudulent or abusive, or to harass, threaten or harm others;
• access the online service other than through the app, automate or resell it, or try to get around its usage limits;
• interfere with, overload, probe or attack the Service or its providers;
• tamper with ads, generate fake ad impressions or clicks, or encourage others to do so;
• copy, modify, distribute or reverse engineer the app, except as allowed by law or by an open-source or third-party license that covers a component (see section 9).

We may limit, suspend or block online access for an installation that breaks these Terms or puts the Service or other users at risk.

55. AI translation has limits#

Speech recognition, text recognition and translation are produced automatically by machine-learning models. They can be wrong, incomplete, delayed or out of context. They may mishear speech, misread text, miss tone or meaning, or produce text that sounds right but is not.

Do not rely on Turemi as your only source in situations where an error could cause harm or serious loss, such as medical, legal, financial, safety, emergency, immigration or official matters. In those situations, use a qualified human interpreter or translator and check important information yourself.

66. Network, models and storage#

• The online service needs an internet connection and may be slow, limited or unavailable. Usage limits may apply.
• Offline packs can be large and need storage space, and downloading them may use mobile data. Their availability and quality vary by language and device.
• History and saved files are stored only on your phone. They can be lost if you clear the app’s data, uninstall the app, or lose or reset your phone. Keep your own copies of anything important.
• Some features depend on Android permissions and system behavior, which vary by device and Android version.

77. Advertising#

The app shows ads provided through Google AdMob. Ads are provided by third parties, and showing an ad does not mean we endorse the advertiser or its products. If you tap an ad, you may leave the app; what you buy or share there is between you and the advertiser, under their own terms and privacy policy. How advertising data is used, and your choices about it, are described in our Privacy Policy.

88. Analytics#

The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used and improve it, as described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Where the law requires your consent for analytics, it is asked for separately.

99. Third-party components and services#

The Service uses third-party services, such as Google services, model providers, download hosts and Cloudflare, and includes open-source software and models. These remain subject to their own licenses and terms. If an open-source or third-party license gives you rights in a component, that license governs your use of that component, and nothing in these Terms restricts those rights. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

1010. Our rights#

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own use, in line with these Terms. The Turemi name, logo, app and website, apart from your content and third-party components, belong to us or our licensors. The restrictions in section 4 and this section apply to the extent they do not conflict with an open-source or third-party license that covers a component; where they conflict, that license takes precedence for that component.

1111. Price and costs#

The app is supported by ads. You are responsible for any internet, mobile data or other charges from your network provider, including for online translation and offline pack downloads. If we offer any paid feature, its price and terms will be shown to you before you buy it.

1212. Feedback#

If you send us suggestions or feedback, we may use them to improve Turemi without any obligation to you.

1313. Disclaimers#

We work to make Turemi useful and reliable, but to the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that translations or recognized text will be accurate or complete.

Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited or excluded by contract under the law that applies to you.

1414. Limitation of liability#

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of the Service or from relying on its translations.

These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

1515. Ending use#

You can stop using Turemi at any time by uninstalling the app. Uninstalling removes the data stored in the app on your phone, but not copies you saved or shared elsewhere. We may stop providing the Service, or your access to the online service, as described in sections 1 and 4. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as sections 2, 5, 13 and 14, survive after you stop using the Service.

1616. Changes to these Terms#

We may update these Terms. We will post the new version on this page with a new date, and for significant changes we will also give notice in the app or on the website. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, the updated Terms apply. If you do not agree, stop using the Service.

1717. General#

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver. Mandatory consumer protection laws of the place where you live still apply to you. If you have a problem with the Service, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it.
